Ramesh Kumar, 58, was once a garment factory worker in Okhla Industrial Area, Delhi. For over two decades he supported his family on modest daily wages — until the factory shut down permanently during the pandemic. With no savings, no alternative income, and mounting rent arrears, he lost his rented room within three months.

Today Ramesh lives near the Connaught Place metro station, where he relies on community meals and kindness of strangers. Despite his circumstances, he remains cheerful and spends his mornings helping other elderly homeless individuals navigate nearby government offices for identity cards — a small act of dignity he quietly provides every day.
